CURRENTLY ABSORBING: Tom Wolfe’s “The Right Stuff.”
Tom Wolfe is a journalist, mo doubt about it. The good/bad thing about books by journalists is that all journalists sound the same. “Right Stuff” reads like “Hiroshima” which reads like “Fear and Loathing.” I can’t remember whether or not Capote was a journalist, but he falls into the same category. Journalists are all about details, which works in the realm of news reporting, but can be exhausting in the realm of literature. This fine authorship makes me want to take a nap after every other chapter
Somehow my first tumblr was hacked, so this is the 2nd iteration of my blog about myself.
Currently Absorbing: The Autobiography of Malcom X, as told to Alex Haley. I’m not usually big on non-fiction, but this book stands out. I’m only two chapters in and I’m already getting consumed by it.
